Anxiety and worry: brief guide
When it is an adaptive response and when more support may help.
Worry vs. anxiety
Worrying before an exam or interview is common: the body activates to face a challenge. Anxiety becomes more problematic when it is intense, persistent, appears without a clear trigger, or limits work, sleep, or relationships.
Common signs
- Muscle tension, palpitations, or rapid breathing
- Repetitive thoughts that are hard to let go
- Avoidance of situations (social, work, medical)
- Fragmented sleep or irritability
Useful strategies
Slow breathing techniques, grounding (five senses), gradual exposure to what you avoid with support, and thought records (ABC or brief journal). Moderate physical activity and sleep hygiene also matter.
The GAD-7 scale is a screening tool Anto can integrate into your tracking; it is not a diagnosis, but it helps you see trends.
When to seek professional help
If symptoms last weeks, worsen, or include thoughts of self-harm, contact a professional or crisis line. Anto can support you between sessions; it does not replace clinical care.
